Citydance
In dedication to the city, that “had supplied her with so many formative experiences.” Citydance (1977) was created as participatory day-long event that channeled dancing participants along the stretch of Market Street. Halprin dubbed it “a gift to the people of San Francisco”. The piece was performed in San Francisco, and choreographed and performed by Ann Halprin herself, with the help of SFDW and the people of the Bay Area. Citydance was performed in the years 1960-69 and also in 1976-77. Citydance was choreographed and performed by: Anna Halprin, Dancers’ Workshop Company and people of the Bay Area. Anna also did collaborations with Jim MacRitchie and Jim Burns. Citydance was performed in several locations including: San Francisco; New Orleans; Florida; Israel; England; Holland; Germany; Japan.
